Step 1 Step 1 - Gather the materials  ¶

  • The first step of creating your Luxe Punk Collar is to prepare your chains for the pendant.

Step 2 Step 2 - Prepare the Rhinestone Spike Chain  ¶

  • Since the Rhinestone Spike Chain doesn't have any links to hook jump rings to, we will show you how to add some hooks!

  • Take 2 gold tabs and glue them to the back of each end of the rhinestone spike chain. Make sure the opening on the tab is facing upward, above the rhinestone with the spike pointing downwards.

    • TIP: This glue takes 24 hours to fully dry into a permanent hold. However, after 10 minutes the glue will be dry enough to pick up the chain and handle.

Step 3 Step 3 - Complete the ''Chain Pendant''.  ¶

  • Open one small jump ring and thread the chain ends AND end cap onto it in the following order:

    • Gold Oval Chain

    • Pearl Rosary Chain (you only need 11 pearls on the chain to complete the pendant. If there is extra remove two pearls)

    • Rhinestone Spike Chain (using the link you created in step 2)

    • End Cap

  • Close the Jump ring. Repeat the same process on the other end of the chains.

  • Be sure to check that the chains are not twisted before you attach them to the second jump ring. We suggest laying them flat on a table so you can be sure that they are nestled in neat layers.

Step 4 Step 4 - Prepare the leather cord and clasp  ¶

  • Fold your leather cord in half, making sure that both ends are even. Use a sharp scissor to cut the cord in half.

    • TIP: Leather cord comes on a spool, and therefore may arrive in your box with a slight curve. Use this curve to your advantage when gluing the cord into the end caps. Position the cord pieces so that they follow the curve of your neck when worn, and then place in the end caps accordingly.

  • Using a Q-tip or toothpick, place a small amount of glue on one end of each cord and gently slide the cord ends into the end caps on your chain pendant.

    • TIP: E6000 glue takes 24 hours to fully dry into a permanent hold. However, after 10 minutes it will be dry enough to pick up and gently test the length. Hold the necklace up to your neck in the mirror and assess if you want to shorten it before you glue on the clasp!]

Step 5 Step 5 - Attaching the clasp to the necklace  ¶

  • Attach jump rings to links on both sides of the clasp.

  • Attach the remaining 2 end caps onto the jump rings so that they are attached to the clasp. Close the jump rings tightly.

  • Place a small amount of glue onto the ends of the leather cords and slide into the end caps attached to the clasp.

Step 6 Step 6 - Wait 24 Hours for the necklace to dry!  ¶

  • Wear it and share it! @mjprojectdiy #mjprojectdiy

I received a defective part on the Luxe Punk collar! The 5" Rhinestone spike chain. The photo above shows it with metal tabs between each spike. The actual construction is a chain holding the spikes in a strip. The chain on one end on the back of the spike chain does not lay flat in order to attach the round gold tab. Can I get a replacement on this part??

I just realized I'm missing 2 gold tabs from the Luxe Punk collar kit. This kit is a total mess. It's impossible to put it together. What a waste.

My kit had all the parts and a few extra bits as well! The hardest part of this one is waiting 24 hours for the glue to dry!

Can't wait to wear it!

mine was fine. It took about 10 minutes. I might replace the pearls with another jewel chain, but I like it!
